BenefitWallet is HORRIBLE

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I had to use BenefitWallet for six horrific months. The customer service there is absolutely horrible.

Nearly everyone there has no idea how the company is run. I spent hours on the phone just to obtain the money that was rightfully mine. As soon as I had the chance to transfer my money I did!. They ended up not transferring all the money they should have.

Therefore, I had to spend more hours on the phone and sending them faxes. I finally gave up. Months later I received something in the mail stating that I still have a balance (the hours on the phone and faxing them all my documents finally worked). However, they had waited months to notify me that my account was still opened and they were charging me a fee.

Therefore, I had to lose all the money that was rightfully mine and go through the hassle of closing my account for a second time. I think this is the worst company I have ever had to work with---probably even worse than COMCAST!

Hidden fees after the fact!

I decided to reimburse myself for a hospital stay and had to do so with a paper check. I write myself a check for the balance, taking it to $0.00.

CONduent (used to be Xerox), then hits me with a $.3.50 monthly maintenance fee before I could cash the check. The result? Bounced check on an account with a $0.00 balance! And, a $25 NSF charge in addition to what my bank hit me with!

A call to customer service and the usual, "it's noted in your agreement we can charge you a fee..." talk off. Nothing about charging an account with a zero balance a ridiculous maintenance fee (for WHAT exactly??? what kind of maintenance are you doing??). So, I wrote myself a check for the balance, get hit with a $3.50 "fee" which results in them taking another $25 fee.

Pretty good racket they have there! Hit you with fees after the fact they'll just pocket! There is a reason they are now called CONduent. Pretty heavy emphasis on the CON.

Also a pretty good reason why they are in such heavy financial trouble in the marketplace, losing contracts, clients and bleeding money.

Don't do business with these people! They'll rob you blind and then hide behind small print...

Benefit wallet HSA Fraud Transactions - Not helpful at all !!

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I have been Benefit wallet HSA account holder for past few years. I have never used my account for any transactions or ordered any checks.

Recently after the Upgrade of Benefit wallet system i noticed checks issued to certain " HILL COUNTRY CENTER" NEW BRAUNFELS TX with payee names "GLORIA ESCOBEDO" and " JESUS ESCOBEDO". I have no links to these two people , Benefit wallet claims its online identity theft issue. I fear this is larger issue than online theft, it possible that there was a system issue at Benefit wallet or data breach at Benefit wallet. In any case please beware of FRADULENT TRANSCTIONS ON BENEFIT WALLET, keep a watch on your accounts .

Benefit wallet is not helping me identify who accessed this account on those fraudulent transaction dates. They claim they have no fraud department to assist...

That is very scary!!! I cant TRUST them with my money anymore!!!

Resolved: Poor customer service - cancelled check copy request

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Updated by user Jun 09, 2017

A credit was issued after speaking with a different rep yesterday who took copious notes of my account of this lengthy and frustrating experience. She raised it to their management team and they quickly agreed to apply a credit back to my account for the service fee.

Original review Jun 01, 2017
I just experienced the very same scenario. On May 15th I requested a copy of a cancelled check and was advised that it could be emailed to me within 5 business days. Today (June 1st) I noted my account has been charged the $5 fee but I still had not received the check copy. I called and was advised that their system had notations that the request was submitted internally on May 16th but could not be emailed at that time. The next notation was that copy was being mailed out overnight on May 31st, and provided a USPS tracking number. I looked up the tracking number in the USPS website and got "STATUS NOT FOUND." I asked to speak to a supervisor about reversing the $5 fee because I was not satisfied with the service failure on this request. I was finally transferred to a "floor supervisor" who stated that "no one there" had authorization to override the fee. Today's mail has already arrived and there was no check copy received. I am seriously considering moving my account to another HSA service provider. Very poor service!

Magical Fees - Dual Accounting System

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I requested a check from Benefit Wallet for $75.38 on July 17, 2017, even though the available balance was showing $78.88. I anticipated they may throw in a $3.50 fee, so I was making certain it was covered. I received a check but was not able to get to the bank immediately, so I deposited into my account on August 3, 2017. On August 8, 2017 my bank indicated the check was returned NSF and I was assessed a $12.00 NSF fee. On the same day Benefit Wallet notified me that the check was NSF and they charged me $24.00 fee. I called Benefit Wallet who told me that the system balance that is on line is not the same as what they have in their office, and a mysterious additional $3.50 fee was assess to my account in August. I was on line waiting to talk to someone for 30 minutes yesterday before I gave up. Today, it was 35 minutes, and the person on the phone "Gloria" (no last name or title) was no help. I want to close out my account, but I cannot get assurances what my balance is and how that this whole scenario can happen again...Help!!!

Same thing happened to me, they send the check one month later and I deposit the check, by then they stole $3.50 for maintenance not the check amount is bounced. Isn't there anyone to ask these people?

I moved to SelectAccount, NO miscellaneous fees!

Didn’t like BW’s service model or pricing structure. Very pleased with SelectAccounts HSA offering and service! I learned more about my HSA in one day with them then I ever did with BW.

Deplorable service, DON NOT USE BENEFITWALLET FSA

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

customer service is deploreable, solutions presented are unacceptable. my FSA debt card does not work, the reason given is that they are not approved charges.

i have been going to the same pharmacy, using benefitwallet, for 3 years now. all charges accepted. now, they issued new cards (with a chip) and changed the issuing bank. sunddenly, no transactions allowed, the reason being i am trying to make unauthorized charges (purchase items not covered by a FSA).

their only solution is to inconvenience me further; have me pay out of pocket, then submit forms to get reimbursed. my experiences in this aspect of their business has been unfavorable, as well. a user "unfriendly" website, documentation being denied, needing further documentation, the list goes on.

if your employer offers benefitwallet as your FSA provider, do not sign up. benefitwallet FSA is as worthless as a company can get.

Site updated and can't log in

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Benefit wallet has been talking about a new site update. I read all the info.

I downloaded their PDF. I double checked my personal information. They sent my new debit card. All good.

Logged into the same site that I've been using since 2008 . My username and password still work, but they want me to verify my info before I can actually see my account. They're talking about the Patriot Act and e-signature, blah, blah. I did that and got an error screen.

They told me my address was incorrect. This is the address that they just used to MAIL my debit card. Called customer service. Waited 7 minutes.

She transferred me. Waited another 3 minutes. He couldn't help me.

He suggested try to log into my account in a week or so. Really?

Investment options are poor

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I am interested in investing my HSA money. The company BenefitWallet works with to provide investing opportunities is "SaveDaily.com".

So far I have not been able to complete the signup process through their webpage (I have tried on three separate occasions). SaveDaily.com is also not registered with the Better Business Bureau and reviews of their services are generally poor. Considering that BenefitWallet advertises the ability to invest your HSA money I was disappointed to realize that they make the process anything other than easy.

I wish they would partner with a more mature and reliable company for investing. To add something positive: I do like the recent webpage revamp and I am hoping this is indicative of BenefitWallet trying to overhaul the services they are offering to their clients.

My Benefit Wallet

If you are over 65 and want to close your account and get a check you may want to consider an alternative. I called last month, did everything needed to close the account and get a check.

I understood the check would be produced in "5 to 7 business days." I never got the check. I called again and was told at first that the check had been cut and mailed, then another representative said there was a computer problem and that I would have to go through the effort again. I asked why I was not informed of the problem. There was no answer.

So between my initial call and effort to close the account My Benefit Wallet charged my account another #3.25 service fee. So that must be the problem, My Benefit Wallet, which has 100's of thousands of account each earning a small amount will not cancel the accounts. You may be better off getting cancer and spending the money on chemo.

Also, it appeared based on the telephone conversations, that English is a second or third language for the customer service representatives. Perhaps Hindi is #1.

Monthly fees took 1/4 of my account

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I set this up with an employer and then left after 1 year so the full $400 I had allotted for an HSN went into this account. I kind of forgot about the account until I started getting emails that they were changing their website and updating the card.

So I logged in and my account was down almost $80 just because of their fees. So I immediately went on a shopping spree for FSA stuff. And even though it's a Visa account, it does not take out amounts immediately. I ended up with an NSF and a $25 charge.

I called to close this account and was placed on hold for 10 mins. And no wonder it took the guy forever to close the account.

If your employer uses this company, you're better off just creating your own account!! STAY AWAY!!!!

AWFUL

Benefit Wallet has been stealing from me now for months. They can't fix their errors. They won't refund my monies. They won't process any claims. They never call me back. They leave me on hold for 45 minutes. Their customer service team SUCKS. They are totally FUBAR. I've been on the phone with them at least 5 times in the last 2 months. They have one miserable excuse after another. Your debit card can be activated in 2 weeks after the transition period. LIE You account was closed by your employer LIE I am escalating your issue and someone will call you back LIE I am transfering you to my manager LIE

HORRIBLE SERVICE, SEEMS LIKE THEY'RE SCAMMING TO KEEP THE $$$

Horrible customer service. Benefitwallet is the worst company trying to regulate my FSA spending.

I'm the spouse of someone whose company forces us to use Benefitwallet. Benefitwallet goes out of their way to make sure we don't know all the rules until it's too late and we either lose the money at years end or the payment for a procedure done at end of calendar year doesn't keep paid. Customer service? Depends on who you talk to.

I've talked to 6 different people and have gotten 6 completely different stories about what I can do or can't do. What's the point of having me, the customer NOT provide a detailed bill? We've had doctor's appointments be paid and on the fifth visit, they need a detailed bill. Benefitwallet is the Bernie Madoff of FSA with no accountability.

Their goal is to make money by making sure those that are forced to use their services DON'T have claims paid as much as possible. NO WHERE on their website does it tell you when the last day of a claim must be paid from the previous year. When I confronted the agent on the phone she agreed and stated that it was the responsibility of the company my wife works for to state the date in the folder we were given years ago. So if I'm to get the right, the company is responsible to tell us and Benefitwallet has no obligation to state it my wife's company branded portal?

How is this even legal?

In fact, it is not according to our attorney. I look forward to the day that the executives at Benefitwallet are sued in a class action lawsuit and I can only hope that every employee is sued also for being culpable.

Website lost all my provider data.

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I went to pay a provider using the website. Evidently they changed the website since my last use of it. Although I could easily navigated, when I went to pay a provider none of the many providers I had already placed in the system were available. I called them at the customer service number and spoke with the young lady tried to help me. She told me that they had sent out a notice saying that during their change of website some of the data might be lost. I am very angry because that is just lousy business practice. There is no reason why that data should have been lost. It is the business of I T professionals not to lose data. I have no other options than to enter it all by hand again.
