Verified ReviewerMaintenance fees although acct has been closed since 2012
BenefitWallet has been taking out $3.50 maintenance fee ea month for 12 yrs! I finally received a notice in the mail that my acct is closed & do I want a check for the balance.
I said YES please. Received check & deposited to my checking acct & check was rejected due to insufficient funds because BenefitWallet had already taken out another $3.50 maintenance fee! So my check bounced because BenefitWallet charged yet another $3.50 from the acct.knowing they had just mailed me a check!
Do not trust this company! I will make sure to tell ALL my colleagues at Northwestern University to NOT use this company because they will steal all your money w their maintenance fees.

Verified ReviewerCan't pull out my money
I recently left a company that uses MyBenefitsWallet for HSA accounts and I wanted to pull out my funds that I accrued (and just deal with the federal 20% tax fee for pulling it out for non-medical reasons). I submitted my request for payout of all funds to my bank account on January 15th, 2023 and still have not received anything.
When I called first time they told me that there was a fraudulent protection in place so I had to verify that I was taking out the funds. Ok so I did, a week passes by and still nothing, then the processing transaction disappears on the website like nothing happened. Fast forward to February 9th and my account was still the same, nothing pulled out and nothing processing. So I called them again and they stated that there was an issue after an update went through on their system and they said it would be processed shortly.
It was not processed still so I submitted another request and now am in the same spot I was a month ago. This is ridiculous. You don't mess with people's money like this.
Something is going on that they aren't telling us. Also can't get through to customer support after being on hold for 2+ hours so I tried the brokers line and they literally just transferred me to the Customer Service line because "they can't do anything" about releasing my funds...I smell a law suit coming.

Verified ReviewerHorrible with claims
- Emails
- Customer service
- Hsa provider
Preferred solution: For them to accept allowable claims without holding on to money that doesn't belong to them. Explain what you need in detail the first time and every time. Your emails that you send are do not-reply.
User's recommendation: Never use this company

Verified ReviewerToo Many to Count
Where to begin. Up until the beginning of the year, I had zero problems with BW.
However, my company switched HSAs at the beginning of the year. I had a dental appointment around the middle of January in the amount $1376. It was the perfect storm: the new HSA wasn't set up, and I didn't have the "new" card for my BW, so I pay out of pocket, thinking I could just reimburse myself. So I submit the reimbursement request, and get the standard canned answer of a week or whatever it takes to process.
Cue the "systems outage" at BW and the two weeks it took to get back online. First time I got through, I get the line about the systems outage and processing back transactions, and they couldn't do anything for me. I think, okay, I guess. Once the systems come back up about a week later, I call again.
Get the standard line again about my transaction processing, which I can see, and that it shouldn't take more than a few days to process. Sure, whatever.
Fast forward to today, and my transaction that was processing a couple of weeks ago ISN'T EVEN THERE ANYMORE! Not pending, not processing, not canceled, nothing. No money transferred in my account, nothing.
When our company switched HSAs, they sent forms to have all of your money transferred, and I was waiting for this to process before I did it. I guess I can do that now.
I try to think that there's good people in the world, and that people genuinely want to help you when you call. Not here.
I'm sure there's a 10-page script that agents are given to respond to literally anything a customer can call to inquire about. Shame on you BenefitWallet.
Preferred solution: Full refund
User's recommendation: I have nothing more to add that other people haven't said. Hundreds of 1-star reviews can't be wrong. Run far and fast. Choose another company, even if it comes out of pocket.

Verified ReviewerPoor services
Submitted my receipt for my dental deductible via app gets denied. Reason was no service date, but the receipt literally has a date on it.
Resubmitted same receipt circling the date, still denied. Finally, made a call to customer service, and they reviewed it and told me they see the date and will note and resubmit to their claims unit. 3 weeks later no response and in app doesn't show it was resubmitted or pending. Just simply still denied.
Today I went to the pharmacy to pick up my meds, and didn't want to deal with the bs of going through the reimbursed me back option, so I attempted to use their debit card to pay. Low and behold, the card does not work. I swiped once did not work, and then chip insert twice with pin entry and still did not work. At this point, HSA is not usable, and they're holding my money/funds hostage.
I thought health equity is bad, but benefitwallet is worse. App is limited, can't even upload additional docs via app, but have to do it on browser.
Try calling csr again today but on hold for over a hour and no answer. Cant stay on phone forever.
- Poor customer service or non existent at all
Preferred solution: Help with claims and debit card
User's recommendation: Use a different provider

I had a very similar experience. The funds are lost, no communication.
They're migrating to HealthEquity with no mention of it to the clients, none of the info is available on their site and member portal as well.
THe agent told me they are in a black out period, so none of the funds can be used.... He couldn't tell me what the balance was, where the funds were and (of course!) told me to reach out to HealthEquity for further assistance....
